Bhushan Kumar said THIS about remake of iconic comedy film Chupke Chupke
The 1975 film Chupke Chupke, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, can never get old. Audiences enjoy watching the movie with the same fervor even after so many decades of its release. The film is considered one of the best comedy films of all time.
Bhushan Kumar and Luv Ranjan had announced a remake of this hilarious adventure just before the pandemic but kept all other details under wraps. There was speculation that Rajkummar Rao would direct the adaptation, but the creators have yet to make an official statement.
In an interview, Bhushan Kumar confirmed that the Chupke Chupke remake is on the way. “We have the rights, but we have to make it a little new age,” Bhushan says, further adding that remaking a classic is a big responsibility.
“It’s a remake, so we’re very careful. It’s an iconic film and we don’t want to ruin the legacy. Luv Ranjan is busy at the moment and he prefers to write alone. I think once he finishes work on the Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor movie, he will move on to Chupke Chupke,” Bhushan adds.
While Luv Ranjan will write the film, there is still no information on the direction of this remake. Bhushan scores: “I think we should have everything in place by next year.”
For the uninitiated, Chupke Chupke stars Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, Jaya Bachchan, Asrani, David, and Om Prakash in pivotal roles, and the film balances its ensemble cast so that each character contributes something to the main scenario.
